You should photo this ""lever"" for us it's always interesting to see how people rig up ""levers"" to activate the cdl.

The valve covers can be fixed for about $5, 12point 8mm socket.

That was only a precaution taken because of my height, I'm 5'11" so I could use the extra space. I would have been fine even with the seats in it. I slept in it because the temp dripped below 40 and there wasn't a campsite in the area I was staying.

Land Rover Club of Tennessee

This guy has a nice little set-up. May take a little modifying but sounds like what you need.

Haha I also didn't have a tent or sleeping bag, or anywhere to sleep outside. So yes, I AM a wimp! But I slept GREAT!

Two very good reasons indeed. I have girls, too, and I think they'd love your idea, as well. They already love hanging out in the back of the truck when parked.

I'll second the request for a picture of the "lever" under the passenger floor board to engage the CDL.

I had heard about this option before but was never able to find a picture or the dimensions to make one.

Would love to see how it was made and put one on my 2000 SD.

One of my best friends is running one of these set ups on his D2. Every time we're out, he wishes he had a D1 transfer case shifter.

Consequently, while it's certainly an option, I'd suggest that if you ever think you're taking the truck off-road then you should consider one of the other alternatives. The levers may work, but remember that you have to disengage the CDL before shutting the truck off, or at least before restarting it in order to retain the full traction control functionality.

While this may not seem like a big deal, it gets old really fast if you're out on a trail and someone in your group has a problem, or you find yourself someplace wet and muddy...
