They go by Cannibal V8 resurrection nowadays, I assume that they are trying to hide from their past

Could be a bad lifter, rocker arm assembly issue, etc. If you-re not losing anti freeze, then l'd assume the block is okay. Top Hats won't move...so odds are it's something else.

Does the engine run smooth or does it have a miss? If it has a miss or is running rough.

I'd have them remove upper plenum and valve covers, then watch assembles as it's being cranked over...or look for obvious things...like broken rocker, bent push rod, etc.

I am losing coolant fast. And we verified it is in fact puffs of exhaust

Oh, okay...you didn't mention anything about coolant leak in first post...just ticking noise.

Good luck.

A slipped sleeve might put coolant in the exhaust but I would bet on a head gasket 1st, far more common and far more likely. It is possible to have a slipped sleeve that killed the head gasket but damm you would hear that.
Get a new shop, or pull the heads it is the only way to know for sure.

But Cannibal did both top hatted and non top hatted so who knows what you actually have

I know first hand that LR knew about the slipped liners. One of my old '04s had a slipped liner. I had an extended warranty on the truck. Brought it to the dealer due to a CEL. They told me it was due to a misfire from a slipped sleeve. The tech who tore my engine apart even showed me the indentation it left on the head gasket. After waiting for a few months while driving a loaner from them, I had a new engine. I believe this was around 2008/2009 and the truck only had about 40k miles on it. First time having an extended warranty actually paid off.

With the mods I did, usually got it in the high 180s to low 190s.

The daughter was driving at the time so do not know exactly when it happened. She said the gauged never went over half
