well my fuel pressure gauge has the wrong size threads, way to large. my truck has a small valve almost the size of a tire air valve. does anybody know where I can get an adapter? maybe autozone, oriellys, advance? that's the only 3 in my town. does anybody know the size of the one I need.hope I don't have to order and wait. bummer.

I'm going to see if I can get a tire gauge in there just for a quick test with key in pos 2 and not running and see what I get. I probably have the adaptors that came with my fuel pressure gauge if I could just find them. I'm not the most organized when it comes to tools. The back of my van is knee deep in loose tools. I've been meaning to sort those out for a year or so.

 

I can't get any of my tire gauges in there. I may go do the loan a tool thing form AZ.

funny though after leaving my key on, for a few minutes before trying to start it, the thing started right up. I know you had asked me that dusty and it didn't help yesterday but worked just now first time starting it today.I had the key on for a few minutes instead of seconds. I know the fuel pump turns off after a few seconds though.

another question, when you have your key switch in position 2 or whatever the position is right before start, and before you try to crank it, is the idle air control valve supposed to be humming/ buzzing?

with my key on and my hood open mine is buzzing pretty loud. don't remember ever hearing it before but, may not have been under the hood with the key on before.

 

I may have found my problem with my hard start after sitting overnight. I have a small fuel leak right above the charcoal canister a few inches behind the quick coupler in the fuel line where the line lays on the frame. It is not leaking enough to even drip to the floor, it evaporates about as fast as it leaks. I got a whiff of gas back by the rear wheel well and after climbing under I noticed a little on the line. I will have to get a piece of line and see if it helps. I'm thinking maybe it leaks down just enough to loose it's pressure in the line overnight making it hard to pressure up on first start in the mornings. I hope that's it.

 

anybody know the inside diameter or size of the fuel hose right above the canister on the rear frame? I think the line runs from the fuel pump forward to a quick coupler right above the canister and another line goes forward from there on up to the fuel rail.
anyway, I need to go get a piece of hose to replace it or a brass barb coupler to splice in. I can't take the line off to carry in the store with me since I have to drive the truck to get the parts.
also does anybody know the LR part # for that section of hose with the coupler? it's an 03D2 with SAI.

Just buy a few different coupler sizes and return what you don't use

 

yea that'll work. I'll just buy a few sizes and toss the one I don't use in the parts bin. I was thinking of getting a piece of hose to replace that complete section but may just try the coupler first. Didn't know if the coupler might restrict the flow? I guess since it has several quick couplers in the line already it will not.
