Default SLS Problems

Hello everyone,

I have been working on my disco here for the last few weeks trying to figure out exactly is wrong. I am thinking my SLS compressor is on its way out. It will fill up the supension and work for awhile. Normally if I take it out for a drive withing a few miles the light comes on and the suspension starts to drop. So basically it has been here parked at my house.

Is there anytest or things that I can do on the SLS compressor that will let me know if it is acutally dead. Also I have the rave manual but I still havent figured out where the pump is. I have checked the airbags for damage and they look to be in good overall shape.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have heard that the pump is under the pass seat, but I dont know for sure. I would bet more on a air leak than a bad compressor.
You can get a coil conversion for around $1000 and depending on what it wrong it might be cheaper. And is a onetime fix.

it sounds like you either have a bad height sensor, or possibly a bad valve. comp will not cause it to drop when engine is running. need to have codes pulled from ABS to know for sure.

I had the same thing happen, my disco looked like a low rider....the compressor was out..it is located right under the car on the drivers side, about where the seat is. my mechanic found a used one with a warrenty.. cost me about 500.00 installed.

Thanks

Well first of all I would like to thank Disco Mike for all of his help on this problem. I have tried pulling the ride height sensors and moving them to see if they where the cause. Luckily while I was trying to pull one off the problem reappeared and the suspension dropped.

I noticed that the pump would make a clanking sound like it was stuck or jammed. I think that is where my problem is. I moved the sensors and nothing it never came back. So I called a local rover shop and they are going to pull the codes for free. I just have to get it to SLC. I will post the codes when I get it down there this week.

They are also telling me I should convert to the coils on the rear and forget the repair of the SLS system. I am not 100% I want to do a conversion.

Thanks once again for the great help.

I was surfing the internet and I found this forum.

http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/sls...amp-47390.html

This guy had the same problem that I have. So it looks like it is the pump. Does anyone have a used one laying around that they are willing to sell?

Thanks
