That is not my Disco, I just found pictures on Flickr. I think it is a 4.3 v6

Just keep in mind what everything from the engine back is designed to handle. One reason Rovers (Series, Defenders, etc) last so long is their low power engines. Lots of horsepower off road usually leads to broken parts unless you have a feather throttle foot.

Cheers,

Pete

Why would you want to do that to your truck? The 4.0 is a great low end torque motor
and just what is needed for off road use. Don't ruin your rover man.

The 4.0 is junk, and way too underpowered for this large of a vehicle. Why do you think even Land Rover upgraded?

Yep, they should of made it a 6.0. There's no replacement of displacement

my 4.6 has "enough" power. could always use a few more horses. and the more torque the merrier.

The Rover V8 lasted over 40 years and worked well for the rest of the world. The American driving mentality is stuck in a high school parking lot. Sure, more power is nice to have, but do I really need to do 100+ mph or accelerate faster than everyone else? Rovers are built for off road and expeditions, not the urban race track.

Cheers,

Pete

well said.

I love my engine. I did some research and found out my 4.6 has nearly the same amount of both HP and lbs as a bronco 5.7L 350ci..

they have like 10 more torque and the same hp.

rover engines are pretty powerful but the best part is that can take a beating.

I highly doubt the new 350ci engines in the tundras/fords ect can handle being dunked in water every weekend and handle mud all over the engine while bouncing around in the middle of the woods. I doubt they will last. too many gismos in the newer engines.

Not every state has emission testing anymore.
