so i swapped the bank 2 O2 sensor,,,
and cleared codes. started up the rig and it will toss a code eventually. reading on the scan tool for bank 2 are really high compared to bank 1.
pulled plugs and inspected for unburnt soot and carbon. nothing. so i believe i may have a lean issue. started looking around and noticed the hose from the stepper to the intake manifold was popped off. plugged it back in and fired up the truck again. same readings.
once i came back up to the house from the garage i thought to myself. "DID I HEAR THE STEPPER MOTOR KICK IN AT ALL?"
will run the rig in a little while around the block and see if anything changes.
any other ideas?

oh and the truck purrs at 750+- rpm and does not run poorly.
just has crappier then normal gas mileage. when i pulled both O2 sensors both looked almost new on the tips and no oil on the connectors
