It sure does look scary, but...do not make conclusions yet. I would remove everything including the heads and see what exactly happened. Only if there is damage to the block itself, I would make plans to remove it.

true, already down this far, might as well see what is up, ill have to do the head gasket job on any engine i get anyways just to be safe, atleast this way ill be an old pro at it

Pull the heads off for sure and see why the pushrod poked out. If the block is ok, just fix it. You wont be out anything, and you could save yourself some $$$
