SOLVED: Dumb rattle coming from rear end
I've had a dull rattle coming from the rear end for a few months that sounded like you might expect a loose damper bolt to sound like. Nothing was loose though. All bolts fastened up. Since the watts linkage was pretty shot, I figured it might be that. I replaced all the rubber bits on the suspension last week and the noise still appeared.
I finally found the cause... The silly carriage that holds all the evap/emissions components near the right rear wheel was ever so slightly bent inward toward the frame, letting the evap canister bounce off the frame just a enough over bumps to make the sound we kept hearing in the cabin. All I did was bend it back to straight and the noise is completely gone.
