Source for brake booster?
I presume you know about this...and have rejected it due to price?

When it comes to brakes, I have my kids in my car (and others on the road as well!) so if this is the price, it's the price
This happened on my truck 10+ years ago, and I was able to find a brake booster on a truck at a boneyard here that very same day. I went to the yard, removed the booster, brought it home and installed it, and all is well still.
I get what you are saying about not being so concerned about cost because you're dealing with brakes, but as best I know brake boosters do not have a high failure rate.

Why would a master cylinder failure cause you to need to replace the booster? They are separate items, and even if the booster got full of fluid it's pretty simple to pull it and clean it.
The only real issue I have seen is that sometimes the seal lip between the booster and the MC can get a little bit corroded. Buff it with find sandpaper if necessary and then wipe it down with vaseline.

Mollusc, since it's been 10+ years for me I don't recall all the details, but I do recall reading at the time that once a booster gets flooded with brake fluid it needs to be replaced.
Or it's possible I just panicked because it was a Sunday afternoon and I needed the truck back on the road by the next morning.
If they can be removed and cleaned, that's great for Roont (and others). Do you have any instructions or tips?
p.s. I don't recall what I did wrong to get fluid into the booster, but it was definitely "pilot error". I had rebuilt the master cylinder that morning, and somehow when reinstalling the MC I screwed up.

For me when a master gets fluid all back and inside the booster, I replace. I could see on a newer vehicle if it were caught right away maybe get away with not, but I mostly work on 15+ year old vehicles so I try to do the job once and also the safest way for my own peace of mind.
I know there are those that feel comfortable not doing it at same time and have been driving forever with no issues. Everyone has their own way of doing things. The only thing we agree on is the devil engineered pt cruisers.
