spark plug wires install
Guys, I ordered spark plug wires and should be getting them this friday. I will not be removing the plenum or anything. Any tips to make the job easier other than to take my time and keep my cool ???? I will have beer to the rescue just in case
I have spoken to a few people who found it easier when the hood was removed, gave them a little more working room.
Does your truck have secondary air, if it does then you may want to reconsider removing the air intake.

Nope, no secondary air. I was thinking on laying on a cardboard piece laid on the engine with my face right there over the coil pack and my forehead resting on the cowl rubber seal.
I got them today by the way. My wife has plans for us tomorrow and dinner plans for Saturday ( you know how it is....I'm the boss when she says it's all right). This being a long week-end here, it gives me Sunday and Monday to tackle the job. Who would have tought that I would see changing spark plug wires like a big job. This would take like 2 minutes on my Jeep and that's taking my time.
Back to the issue at hand.....I red somewhere that I have to push them into position with force until they click in place. Otherwise I'm heading for misfires. Is there a position in the rotation that I should start with???

All right, the wires are on. All I have to say is @?$*#% they're hard to put on! Anyways, 2 hours, bloody nuckles and scratched foreharms later and the job is done.
The only thing that I've noticed so far is that the engine needed to turn a few times before starting, and now it only takes 1/2 a turn and vrooom! So I drove it to the service station and fueled it. Let's just hope that I can see better m.p.g The plugs were changed a few weeks ago and gappedat 0.45. So the winning combination is there.
Oh ya, I used my multi meter to verify the resistance difference between the original wiresand the new ones. The new wires have 1/3 the resistance of the originals which had approx. 9000 ohms per foot of resistance???? I experimented with all kinds of different wires with my Jeep, and can say that I have never found wires that even came close to the Land Rover's wire resistance.

You did the change out in good time. I just replaced my Plus 4 plugs that had 65,000 miles on them with the new Bosch Fusion's, I am now up to 18.5 MPG at 65MPH in Denvers altitude, not bad.
