Default Speaking of trans fluid..

I know there are a million posts about the motor flush with straight trans fluid, but im a little leary of it.Ive done a seafoam flush and always ran RP sythetic, but as ive read if there happens to be junk in the valve train, which may or may not be associated with this engine noise i have, the trans fluid flush really works. Someone convince to give it a try.

Dealers and shops started using ATF, diesel fuel and or kerosene more then 20 years ago and many still do. Most now stay away from the kerosene and diesel fuel because of saftey/smell issues.
ATF works great if you want to do a more rapid engine flush and don't want to pay $100 plus at the shop for a similar flush.

Drain the engine oil, replace it with 6 quarts of any brand ATF, let it idel for 20 to 30 minutes, then perform your normal oil change.

So dont even bother flushing the motor with cheap oil after the trans fluid has been ran?

I would run cheap-o motor oil and filter for 500-1000 miles and then switch to the good stuff.

thats what i was thinking. does thetrans fluid really help with noisy lifters. in o ther words im not sure whats going on in my motor but if it was bottem end related, these last 20k would have made it more evident, but i know these motors have crummy lifters from the get go and if a flush helps even for a few minutes i could narrow down the noise. its still hard to fathom lifters in a motor going bad with only synthetic, knocking at 88k. But even lifters bottoming out will cause wear on the cam, and steel in the oil analysis which didnt show up on my last test.....

For some odd ball reason DII's get noisy lifters, some have had good results with the ATF flush and others it made no difference.
Try it and see what happens, you might just need to tighten the rocker arms.
