Default Speedometer sensors

What sensor or sensors are responsible for transmitting the signal to the speedometer? What is the path it takes? What is the failure points in the system?

I believe it's the ABS sensors at the wheels. In the D1 there was a VSS at the t case.

Not sure about failure points besides sensors and BECM.

My speedometer/odometer either works great or doesn't work at all. If driving and it goes out my rover hesitates and stumbles under load until it either starts working again or goes completely out.

Sounds like the connections at your alternator or battery.

The tach isn't affect. Only the speedo. I never have any problems with start up or battery dying so not sure it's alt or battery.

I'm thinking its directly related to speedo and sensors
