Default spongy brakes

Soooo.. My brakes are spongy.

When I press on the brakes they feel very unsecure, sometimes squeek. However if I pump them twice they grab perfect, make no noise but sometimes pull different ways.

My fluid is blackish

My question. Should it just be bad fluid that is causing this or possibly something else?

what should I look at?

Thanks

Do a complete brake fluid flush and then go from there.
LR recommends this every 24 months no matter the miles.

Plan on on using at least 3 pints of DOT 4 fluid, make sure you bleed each wheel as many times as it takes to get all the dirty fluid out of the lines.
By the way, what year is your truck, if it is a D2, get that brake squeak taken care of before you set the 3 Amigos.
