This sounds about right:

If the purge valve breaks or becomes stuck in the open or closed position, the EVAP system will cease to function and there are no default measures available. The ECM will store the fault in memory and illuminate the MIL warning lamp if the correct monitoring conditions have been achieved (i.e. valve status unchanged for 45 seconds after engine has been running for 15 minutes). If the purge valve is stuck in the open position, a rich air:fuel mixture is likely to result at the intake manifold, this could cause the engine to misfire and the fuelling adaptions will change.

It's really funny. She stalls at the same point in my commute each time, exact same intersection. The engine temp or timing of the ECM must be sending/checking a signal at the same interval in distance. miles. temp or whatever. From the above RAVE reference it must be 15 minutes in.

And since I cleaned and refastened the IACV it will surge when idling in Drive. Love it.

I have a postulation.

The Purge is valve is alternately getting stuck open or shut. When stuck shut it is causing the gas tank to pressurize which causes my gauge to rise, when it does open. When stuck open it is causing the engine to run roughly, and rich. At the fifteen minute mark when the Purge Valve is checked by the ECM it is causing a non registered fault and stall, when shut off and restarted it will start due to the error not being logged.

Is this in fact what is happening. I don't know, but it is what I suspect.

That seems a bit of a stretch and crazy scenario!

I can't imagine that pressurizing the tank would affect the gas gauge reading at all, if anything it would cause a lowering, if the tank, pressurizes, the gas would compress, the tank would expand ever so slightly, the level would fall, and the reading would go down

If im not mistaken, a stuck purge valve usually causes a lean condition, as it is letting in unmetered air(although yes, it has some fuel vapors, that is not liquid fuel unless there is something else going on pushing liquid fuel into the purge line) not a rich condition

Just curious, did you check the fuel pressure or have someone else check it?

My mechanic checked it. I couldn’t Find a tool to rent.

She has been in the shop a few days.

It’s the CPS, and Coolant Temp Sensor wiring. I used an inter motor I think. Will be nothing but Bosch from here out for sensors.
