Hi guys! Got a quick question. I just bought a 02 discovery se II for a play toy and it has some starting issues. Sometimes it will start right up and sometimes it has to turn over no more than 3 times before it cranks up. Now, before you ask, it is not consistent with anything sadly. Sometimes it will fire up in the morning...can drive it all day and before i leave work it wont crank. Sometimes it wont crank for a bit in the mornings but then wont have any problems and sometimes I can go 3 days without problems. Some are telling me fuel pump? Any advice would be great. Thanks!

 

Crank=turn over.
Fire=start.
So it wont turn over or it wont start?

 

Sorry. I will start each time. Sometimes right away and sometimes after 2 or 3 turnovers in no particular order or no consistency each day.

 

Next time it happens try this, remove a spark plug and re-attach the plug wire, turn the engine over and see if the spark plug sparks.
If yes its a bad fuel pump, if no then its a bad crank sensor.
