starting and the door lock
So very rarely, less than 1% of the time, the rover will not start. The dash lights turn on, radio, ac, etc works, the started does nothing. I thought it was a battery or the starter. However it turns out it is related to the locking system.
When i use the key in the door to lock and then unlock it the car will start right up.
Does anyone have any input on what may be failing? Or is it just a land rover quirk amd not worry about it?
Thanka

I've locked with the remote and unlocked with the key. When I opened the door, the alarm went off. I've always hoped it's just a quirk.
This happened one time on both of the D2's I've owned. I've always hoped and assumed it's just a quirk.

That issue is related to the anti-theft system. I had the same problem with my Acura. The problem would happen when I would use the clicker to lock my car then I would reach in my open window to unlock the door or someone inside the car would press the unlock button, instead of using the clicker or key to unlock the doors. Usually the horn will start honking and the red security light on the dash will blink fast when you open the door.

Yah, that is what I was thinking. That or he keeps grabbing his wife's Disco keys by mistake, IE: using the wrong remote.
