Default starting problems, only clicks

I wonder if I shorted out something.... I just got done putting in my new PAS pump and got the belt on and started it up. It started fine but had a cyclical chirp so I shut it down and thought maybe I routed the belt wrong.... I did. I fixed that and then went to start it up and all of the dash lights flickered and then all I heard was a fast clicking noise. The engine didn't turn at all and now that's where I'm stuck. I noticed I had a breaker bar laying on top of the battery cover resting against the frame and think it may have come in contact with a connector (picture below) and created a connection between it and the body. I removed the breaker bar and tried to start it up again and all it does is make a fast clicking noise still.

Charge the battery.
Try again.

Definitely sounds very much like a dead battery.

Thanks for the input. . I've heard dead battery clicking in the past on other cars and I knew that's what it sounded like, I just didn't believe it could be since I had just started it 5 minutes beforehand with no troubles. I did throw the charger on it and then went out for a few hours.... started up like a champ when I got home and now I even have power steering again. Finally. Sorry to waste everyone's time.
