State of aftermarket power steering pumps in 2025?
I went through a barrage of power steering pumps during the covid era when part procurement was ****ty. I've gotten by fine with the last one, it functions great but it's super noisy and I think it's finally noisy enough to finally make me want to replace it. Anyone replace their PS pumps lately and have some perspectives on the state of aftermarket units? Are they still bad? Any better brands? Cardone was the best available back in 2021, but overall not a fan of that brand.

June 2023 my original pump died. Picked up a YHTAUTO pump on Amazon for 120.00. Started out fine however steering went from smooth to rough, binding this spring. I ignored the advice that these cheap pumps are garbage and only last a year or so. I kept the original in hopes of rebuilding it or finding a local shop to rebuild. This spring I picked up another "deal" on Amazon from TRQ for $92.00. It's quiet and smoooth. I have not driven the D2 very much. I have purchased TRQ cheap hubs in the past and have had mixed experiences. Sensors are garbage. I believe the pump has a two year warranty. I also had to use the warranty on a hub and they shipped a new one right out. I'm going to rebuild the old one or find a place....really. Good Luck!
When people refer to it as quiet, is the bearing noise in the pump or squealing? Or is that the same? I just started getting squealing, fluid level is fine. I got he pump from Rock a couple years ago. Steering is still smooth, just noisy at startup. I thought I read somewhere about a volvo electric power steering pump retro fit that seemed interesting. Might look into that.

I don't remember where I got it, but a few years ago there was a rebuild kit available (hopefully still available). It wasn't that difficult to rebuild. It's been a few years and my pump is still quiet. The risk is that there are a couple of quite small parts inside that would be easily lost.
