Steering box problem
My steering box was leaking like crazy so I decided to rebuild it. Discovered that’s NOT an easy job. Reinstalled it this AM, cranked her up, and I have one of the parts rotated the wrong way… Steering wheel will turn right but won’t turn left. Everything is back in, all lines hooked up, etc. so I’m hoping someone can tell me which part is rotated the wrong way so hopefully I don’t have to tear the whole thing back down again. I swear that box does some kind of voodoo magic; I’m pretty good with a wrench, but I have NO idea how all those worm gears work together. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I rebuilt one too, so no expert. I made all the adjustments on the bench before install and still got the grunt turning right. Maybe binding on linkage or something at extreme left position.
Double check the tubes are connected correctly on the top of the box. Make sure air bled out. Get the front wheels off the ground and look for binding. Maybe you can jiggle the output arm enough to get things realigned (engine off). With wheels off the ground, engine off, it should turn lock to lock very easily with one finger.
