Default Steering damper installation

Dumb question, but I don't have to lift the front of the vehicle to swap in a new steering damper, right? RAVE says you should, but I can't see why it's strictly necessary. Seems like an easy job.

Good question I just ordered mine and it'll be here in a week. As it looks there is plenty of clearance you shouldn't have to lift it to install.

I recollect installing a Terra Firm damper a couple of years ago without lifting the truck. You simply compress the damper and get it to fit within the mounting holes.

For reference, I just installed it without lifting the vehicle. It seemed to go in ok, although getting the bolts lined up in the new one's holes was a little awkward.

I don't need to get an alignment after doing this, right?

Your are correct. You do not need an alignment.
