Default Steering and Power Steering Issues

Just when I thought everything was going smoothly this issues surfaces...

New power steering pump installed about 10 months ago, then this started happening:

At idle, sometimes I could not turn the steering wheel without a lot of effort. If I gave a small amount of gas it would turn. At speed there is no issue.Do I have to replace the brand new pump? Its literally 2 weeks old.
So I replaced the power steering pump with a OEM and the issue is still there. Steering box? I know there was a guy on DiscoWeb that was known for rebuilding steering boxes correctly. Or problem with steering shaft or ujoint issue with steering components? Thanks in advance for any help!

sounds more like air in the pump to me causing idle pressure to not be enough than anything wrong with the pump.

Thanks, I'll check to see that the pump is bled properly!

I'm having the same issue. Bought a pump from Autozone (first mistake) and it's leaking 2 weeks later. Steering is tight at idle and it wines. I bled it well and it's still not right.

Order an OEM pump and hoping to install this weekend. I also order the Pentison 202 fluid. We'll see if that cures it.

Just to follow up on this, I installed my new Lucky 8 OEM pump. They call it OEM but it's really an Allmakes part. Not sure what's up with that.

Anyway, the new pump with the Pentison CHF 202 fluid is working perfectly. Like factory. I did a lot of bleeding and it's got no air in it anymore. Working great.

Quick tip: to bleed the system without loosing fluid or making a mess, connect a use to the bleeder zirk, run that hose into the PS reservoir and turn the wheel back and forth (with the engine running). If your hose is clear, you can see all the air coming out and bubbling off into the reservoir.

sounds like you got got by L8 haha very typical in my experience from them. That said, glad the fluid is working well and great bleeder tip. I'm about to wrap up my pump/hose replacement (that pressured hard line is a PITA) and will certainly use the bleeder tip.
