Default Steering Replacement

My D2 has some play in the steering wheel and likes to drift back and forth while going down the road. I was going to replace the tie rod ends but I don't know what parts to get. I looked at the diagram on Rovers North and it looks like there are just ball joints on the end of the track rod and drag link. Is this what I need to replace?

Your partially right. The drag link and track rod both have one replaceable joint end, one non-replaceable crimped-in rod end. If the crimped-end is bad, you have to get a whole new rod.

If it is the replaceable end, this is all you need:

With 190k miles on it would it be better to just buy one of these?

I was looking on Rovers North and found the Heavy Duty Rods for $200 (STEERING ROD SET HEAVY DUTY DISCOVERY II PLS006HD, TF255 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts) and the regular replacements for $150 for the drag link (DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY LHD DISCOVERY II, QHG000050,RNH138, PLH138 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts) and $70 for the track rod (TRACK ROD ASSEMBLY DISCOVERY II, TIQ000010,RNH072, PLH072 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts). It seams as if the heavy duty ones are better but they are cheaper. Has anyone had any experience with either?

After having to replace several track rods from rock rash I found the HD replacements are well worth it. The walls on the OEM parts are very thing and weak.

Is there any reason why the HD are cheaper?

Kits are generally always cheaper, we buy the whole HD kit as one piece rather than putting it together. I run it on my truck and I agree, it is definitely worth it. Stock replacement is hollow DOM and doesn't let you replace singular ball joints.
