Steering Slips Turning Left
Working my way through maintenance on a new-to-me 2004 Disco. The steering was dangerously sloppy on purchase but adjusting the steering box made a notable difference is eliminating the 2+ inches of play. Despite this, I still am experiencing a strange feeling where the steering wheel feels like it is slipping slipping / skipping slightly, but only while turning left and always in the same location while moving through centerline. Make the truck a bit unsettled when trying to track on the highway as sometimes minor corrections left (feels like 1/2 to 1 inch of slip) are not translated.
I was careful to not adjust the steering box too tight and this condition existed before I monkeyed with the box.
Track bar / ball joints are on the list to replace as boots are torn but I'm not feeling any significant play in the joints, seems more of a steering box issue? CV joint boots are in good shape. Steering dampener is original but steering hiccup remains even with damper disconnected.
Any suggestions on next steps? Worn steering box? Rovers North want $1,800 for a new one...

Check your steering shaft...the joints and coupler.
But, if you had that much slop in the steering gear box, you could have internal damage. There's a correct way to adjust the box and a not so correct way.
