Default Greasing drive shaft

Just got a new driveshaft from a place out of Florida. Guy told me to grease everyone couple years. I know here we say it’s every oil change.
what’s your thoughts on this ?

im in the hvac field and we usually grease motors and bearings twice a year but they usually run 16 hours a day

I do mine every other oil change. It's probably overkill but as long as I'm down there waiting for the last of the oil to drain out anyway might as well get it done.

On our 03, wife's/no off road, grease joints every 5000 (when l change oil on the 5's) and lube cardan joint with penetrating spray that turns to a gel. Then on the 10's oil change, l drop the shaft and lube the cardan joint with grease gun.

On my old 01, every 3000 or immediately after 4 wheeling in mud/water. Between the lift, oversized mud tires and extra weight (overlanding)...it needed extra attention.

Our Dll's see a lot of snow and road salt...also...and this maintenance program has worked fine. 03's shaft is five years old now (probably 35K) and my 01's is on our 04 now (45K).

What kind of grease do you recommend. Believe I read on my driveshafts it requires NLGI 1. There are so many different types.

I find it easiest to grease my driveshafts at every oil change. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Another vote for every oil change. I use mobil 1 synthetic so the cat converter heat does not cook it out so easily.

Middle one, top one is semi-synthetic, bottom one is not synthetic. Middle one has higher temp resistance
