Default Steering Wheel Squeaking

I've lived with a steering wheel squeak for about 6 months now and it's time to dig into the problem...it's starting to get annoying...

It's not a power steering or rack issue, but it rather sounds like it's coming directly from behind the steering wheel...is that the clock spring? It sounds almost like the same kind of squeak that you get from an unoiled door hinge...not as loud, and only noticeable when I'm driving at less than 5mph...if I'm going any faster the engine noise drowns it out...

Anyone else had this problem...I'm guessing I'm not the only one out there...

If it is the clock spring I hear it's a PITA and about a $600 job...

Scroll down all the way, 2nd article from the bottom. Not sure if this is what you're experiencing but worth a shot and costs less than $600

You betcha....I've got a "creaky dash" that has been driving me up a wall lately so I know how much of a pain those little annoyances can become...

Just a guess but this may be the steering box frame spacer issue. There is a TSB for this problem, you need to know how to weld though. It is a harmless issue.

Thanks for that link...never knew that to be an issue.

TBH though I think the links sent earlier will prove to solve my issue...the sounds I have sounds exactly like the guy in the link explains it.
