Default Which stereo do I have ?

The speakers have a Harman Kardon emblem; the stereo head has an Alpine label model XQD101390LNF; all original as I can tell on my 2000 DiscoII
Has cassette, AM, FM, weather band, multi-CD player under seat, controls on steering.

Does anyone has/knows a source for the schematic or service manual ?
(No, I do not need it repaired, works great. I just want to make it better installing minidisc instead of cassette)

you have a Harmam Kardon stereo system that used an Alpine head unit. If you do not use the CD player under the seat, there is an adapter you can get on line to covert to mp3. or you can send your head unit out and they will install a minijack on the face.

Thanks, drowssap.
Then it is both, HK & Alpine. Good to know. The cassette mechanism has been already disemboweled, a minidisc unit fills the void, plus a couple of jacks for the external players are in order.
But cannot find the service manual to do things to perfection Am doing the transplant myself, got the skills.

Are you looking for a manual for the head unit or the wiring diagram for the system? Here's a thread on adding an aux. jack to an existing system. You can tap into the correct wires within the head unit instead if you want. How to: Discovery 2 wired Aux/Mp3 audio input. - Australian Land Rover Owners

Just get a new head unit. I replaced them on both I had and best decision ever. Now I have USB, bluetooth, sat radio, etc.

Thanks, 04duxlr.
Am looking for the schematic diagram of the alpine head unit (or its service manual)
The Australian link implies using the CD changer audio source lines for the extra input. Instead, am using the now-removed-cassette-player-mechanism audio path as the extra input without alterations to CD changer wiring and functionality, nor to AM reception.

Found so far the cassette audio enters on pins 4&5 to the head unit board interconnect. Also, am using pins 10&11 of the same cassette interconnect with a voltage regulator IC to provide 5 and 6 V DC on jacks at the cassette door to supply/charge a minidisk, cell phone and 'usb' jacks.

The 'tape' selector button enables the minidisc or MP3 or any plugged external source. Eject and direction buttons get decommissioned.

Will post details when done.
