Default Stereo system

Hey I have 2002 Disco. It also has the 6 disc changer under the passenger seat. But How do I know if this is the amplified system? I have heard they all are, and I have heard ony the Harmon Karden systems are. I even took off the tailgate cover, but found no amplifer. Is it somewhere else? I have an aftermarket DVD player I want to put in, and take out my changer. But I don't want to pay the $65 an hour the local shop is telling me they'll charge. And the dopey kids at Best Buy told me they wouldn't do it cause "it's too hard". Any advice? Thanks!

So why are you wanting to install an aftermarkwt CD player if you already have the 6 pack? On your truck, I believe the amps are in the rear doors.
You could ask the service manager at your local dealer, he can tell you for sure.
If you are wanting what aftermarket systems also work with your truck check with Atlantic Britishm they sell a couple different units.

I don't like having the 6 disc. It's under the seat, too hard to access, and I switch out CD's too often. I got a Pioneer DVD/CD player, and I want to put that in my dash. Plus, the dealer I bought it from said if I give him back the 6 disc, he'll install auto start for the trade-off. I listen to too many CD's and want quick access to switch them out. Plus with the DVD, my kid can sit in back and watch it. I did take off some of the back door panel, and looked around, but didn't see any amp. I have the SE7, without the Harmon Kardon ( I think. wouldn't it say HK on it?) I was just wondering if I could plug and play with a wiring harness. Thanks for your info!

I think it is under the driver seat there seems to be a amp looking box. Maybe?

My '97 Disco has the amp installed behind the Passenger Side Kick Panel. I used to install stereo equipment back in college. It isn't rock science. You can use a FM modulator if all else fails. Also, you can get a copy of the factory service manual (you should have one regardless) on CD which will show you were your amp is located. Good luck.
