Look into Metra 70-1786 to go from factory harness to
Scosche SLC4 Line Output Converter then to radio

I’ve done the same head unit and metra harness deal in 2 Discos. One had HK and one didn’t. Zero issues. The steering wheel controls also work (albeit a bit goofy- at some point I’ll reprogram).

Anyway, it should be fully plug and play. Are you using the metra RCA adapter deal? If you want to use the OEM amp, that is a must and you won’t connect any of the speaker wires. I bet that is your issue.

Which harness exactly did you use? I'd like to stay away from cutting the speaker plug off.

There should be ZERO cutting of anything- and I think this speaks to what I was saying.

That is, you are not connecting ANY speaker wires at all- either at the head unit or on the vehicle side, or even at the metra harness. You are ONLY connecting RCAs from the metra harness to the RCA inputs to the Head Unit. Make sense?

The only soldering you would be doing would be for hot, ignition hot, ground, and maybe the dimmer (if you can find that wire).

I just searched from my orders and I used: Metra 70-1786 Receiver Wiring Harness

Got it! Thanks. Just ordered it. The only problem is that I have only two RCA sockets on the head unit I wanna use - guess it's time to upgrade to a better unit.

Yeah, you’re not the first to make that mistake. I’m in for barely over $200 for my whole setup and it sounds amazing. I do calls for work sometimes from the Disco while commuting with zero issues and stream music easily. The head unit I got even supports multiple Bluetooth connections so I can connect my work phone and personal phone at the same time.

It’s just a Pioneer DEH X8800BHS, the above harness, the steering wheel control adapter, an the little thing that covers the space when you put a single DIN head unit in. The only tricky part was programming the steering wheel controls. OEM speakers, amp, wiring, etc. I think a PO put new subs in the tailgate, but that’s it.

I think my audio setup is well over a 1000$ by now . Sound deadening also will make ur stock speakers sound way better and is relatively easy to do
