Stock radio wiring diagram?
I'm planning to pull the original/stock radio (tape deck only) from my '94 D1 this weekend and stuff in my CD/MP3 player in its place. Could anyone direct me to (or send me way) a radio wiring diagram so I know which wire is what - or are they nice & obviously labelled back there?
Another question ... is this going to screw with my alarm, and how bad. My stereo (a Panasonic, a couple years old now) has an alarm feature, I believe - but will I need something to mount it in place of the stock unit? (There's that 1/2" tall panel under the radio w/ the red alarm indicator). Add to the fun that my alarm won't engage at the moment because my driver's side lock is busted (another unit coming soon ... more fun & games)
Be gentle ...
Thanks in advance
Jake

I have a 97, not sure if it is the same. It uses a common ground for the speaker outputs, nothing is labeled on mine..... might help you. The anti-theft on the radio is self contained. It will not set off your truck alarm, but you will need the code to activate it again if you remove power to it. A red light flashes with the truck off and it beeps at you if you press a button, but doesn't mess with the truck alarm. I slid my Pioneer in to test the fit, and no mods were needed with the faceplate. BUT I was going to have to get a funny adapter for the 2 antennae in the rear windows and a converter for the common ground on the speakers. Hasn't been worth my time yet. Too much else to fix on the truck...
If you go to rover-renovations.com, you can order a RAVE CD for free. It has the workshop and electrical manuals on it from 95 to present. Not sure if yours would be under the 95 info, but it might be worth a shot. They have a ton of info. It takes a couple of weeks to get to you. It's free, so they only send it out once a week, and I hear they are getting a lot of orders. It will say online delivery, but they will mail it, just be patient.
Good luck!

I got my 2000 Disco II with a Sony head unit installed. Only 1 antenna was hooked up and it works fine. The wiring seems to be the same as with any other vehicle (or so it seems, I havn't messed with it). If it starts to buzz with the engine, make sure all the wires are securely spliced. It is a DII, but I am not sure if the speakers share the same ground-- it has the Harmon Kardon system with the factory amp under the driver's seat. I hope this will help.
