Straight up trade for your ACE equiped Disco?
I don't mind carrying the spares. I make sure I have a portable compressor, a spare air spring, and rescue tape with me at all times. I also know how to fix it when it all goes wrong. And I like the systems enough to justify keeping them. But they're not for everybody.
Like Tom said, there are way more coil sprung D2 out there than there are ACE trucks...
Just trying to keep him from dropping a boatload of cash on a project that's way outside his skill set
Did anyone read this guys post?
"Just curious if anyone out there with a 04 ACE equipped Disco would be interested in a straight up trade for my Trail 1 Edition 04 Disco. I'm not to found of parting with my trail 1 edition and I love the black leather interior and cold climate package BUT everyone else is telling me that its the only realistic way I'm gonna get my hands on the ACE."
Exactly where does it say this guy is retrofitting his truck with ACE? reads to me he is looking to trade up to a truck with ACE

Sure. My comments are about how some of the cool features you can have on a D2 might not always be what you want, if they happen to break while you are in the woods somewhere. My D2 has neither ACE or SLS, and I even looked until I found one with no sunroofs.
And that is what you wanted that is fine you got it, now this guy would like to find the disco that he wants and that would be an 04 with ACE.
Theres in no need of 30 odd posts telling him what not to buy.

That's your opinion. Mine is that I should tell him what I think. If lots of people tell him what they think, and 3 say go for it and 30 say to stay away, perhaps that is useful information.
But even if he does do a trade, that doesn't negate the negatives of ACE that have been mentioned.
Sure there are pluses, but based on posts over the years, the negatives far outweigh the positives.
There are quite a few threads around about people converting to coils, companies sell coil conversion kits specifically for ACE equipped vehicles. In the over 18 years I've been on the various Land Rover mailing lists and various Rover forums this is the first time I've ever read about anyone wanting to go the other direction on a coil sprung Rover.
Jafir doesn't have but 4 posts in this thread and the closest he came to saying anything con about ACE was that you have to recalibrate the system if you replace a height sensor.

antichrist,
"In his other thread" thats exactly right in a different thread.
the man wants ACE, ACE has nothing to do with SLS.
Also first thing I did was ripped those ****ting spring out and repair the SLS system on my truck and it was not costly at all.
I bought all the parts including a new compressoer and new bags from people on this very site that were talked into ripping out the SLS and putting in bugging spring.
on the second part your post #4, #29,#35 & #37, let me get my fingers up here 1,2,3,4 ,yah thats 4
