Stranded. Starts, dies. Help gratefully received.
Currently stuck in a random parking lot, 04 starts after a few starter revolutions then dies immediately. No reaction to the throttle.
car has been getting progressively more sluggish at starting.
Red flashing light on the dash at maybe 2 second intervals. Never did know what that was for.
Don’t have any tools with me.
unplugged the MAF. Same result.
There is ‘some’ pressure at the fuel schrader… hard to tell how much, but the squirt is quite strong.
What else can I check without any real tools?
Thanks.
Update: Ultragague code p1884, which seems very generic depending what I read.
Nanocom shows a p1592 Rough road.
have been struggling with 4 amigos for months. They just came back.
Can all of this be connected, or is my start/die simple like MAF or coil?
Am I really going to have to tow this home?
I have one of those annoying ground disconnect battery terminals, which always give trouble. Thats a bit loose, could that cause this? Close to a Home Depot. Going to buy a set of grips, see if I can get that tightened up properly.
SOLVED:
Bad battery terminal. Home Depot channel locks and an abrasive pad. Cleaned up terminal.
The quick disconnect earth terminal was in a terrible shape. Need to swap that pos out.
