Default A couple issues with 98 Disco

Issue 1: It was having trouble starting and would require the gas pedal at the point of it turning over to get it to idle. It would usually start to idle after I revved the engine up 2500-3000 rpms. The idle would often be lower than normal and would require the gas pedal to keep it from stalling. This didn't happen all of the time, but it got to the point where it ended up stalling twice while driving at low speed (15-20mph). It seemed to me that it would have more trouble starting when cold and more trouble idling when warm.

It just got back from the shop that replaced the crankshaft position sensor and eventually the starter motor that burnt up on them. After 2 days of quick starts and no need to pump the accelerator, the starting issue came back. Occasionally it will need 2-3 cranks before it turns over. Any suggestions before I take it back to the shop?

Oh, the check engine light is not on so there aren't any codes.

Issue 2: The radio will not turn on. The homelink will not operate (no lights when the buttons are pressed) and the vanity lights do not turn on. It all seems to have happened at the same time. The fuses are fine. I haven't noticed anything else suspicious other than the brake indicator on the dash flickered on and off a few times while driving.

Thanks for any suggestions!

If DIY buy a can of cleaner made for MAF sensors. Take yours and clean inside when stone cold. Do not switch engine key on or it heats a part inside to maybe 350F. Cold fluid can crack it. Check fuel pressure at test valve on passenger side fuel rail, looking for about 33 PSI when running or building up to about that.

Once running smoothly from any other suggestions (there will be others) remember to roast meat over open flame to honor the Rover gods. And a trip thru the drive thru a Burger King does not count.

i agree check fuel pump, some auto parts stores will let you use there fuel pressure gauges, they may even show you how to use them, very easy to do(google it on you tube) you may want to check throttle position sensor TPS do you have to put pedal to floor to start
