Default Strange....

Ok so today I am in a parking lot and my Disco would not start, this had happened a few times before and I knew exactly what it was. All I have to do is go wiggle the battery connection and then it would start perfect. Usually I would do that and it would last for a week or so but today it did it twice. So when I got home I completely took off the connection and re-tightened it and cleaned up the connection a little. Then I restarted the car and it worked fine, but my service engine soon light was off and I drove around a little and it never came back on. As I posted earlier these were the codes:

P1172:
Manufacturer Control,
Fuel Air Metering.

P1175:
Manufacturer Control
Fuel Air Metering.

P0455:
EVAP Emission
Control System Leak (LARGE)

Now, I don't think these codes have anything to do with the battery, so does this mean the codes were cleared or that that problem is gone since the light is off? PLEASE let me know!

THANKS!
Cameron

When you diconnected the battery youmaybe cleared the codes? Although I'm really not sure a disconected battery will do so. Probably not after more pondering. The codes will probably be tripped eventually, disconecting the battery could've permanently solved the problem. It just has to trip again, you'll see. But ya never know, keep your fingers crossed.

some places can interfere with the mechanisms to start the vehicle. yesterday our disco would not start and after being on the phone to the dealer they told us that some electrical signals can interfere wth it, and i dont think this is a lie either as it has only happened in this one place, near our local shops. a bit vague but hopefully that may help

Randy,
If the codes came back you will need to deal with them, a bad battery connection will not cause these faults and only time will tell.
