Default Strange Stereo Operation

So, I just fixed a lighting problem w/ my 95 Disco. But when I put everything back together, I ran into a new problem that I don't fully understand.

My stereo will operate and does produce sound. However, at any level below full volume, you hear nothing and when you have it on full volume, you can barely hear it if the truck isn't running and it's a pretty quiet environment. I don't think that I unhooked any wires or anything like that. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate it.

Also, I am working on the reverse light problem that has now arisen. I have pretty well determined that it is in the switch. Does any one have a good access method to get to the switch? I have yet to find it.

the stereo sounds like an amp issue, I would check the amp out (try the ground) should be high up in the passenger kick panel, behind the dash (maybe better access if you remove the glove box)
