Default Strange W/S Wiper Behavior

04 Disco, recently purchased. Initially no windshield wiper operation in any wiper control position, except the single swipe operation, and that does not return to park when the operating lever is released. After several minutes of repeated operation of the single swipe lever all functions start working. Sounds like a lost ground somewhere, but corrects itself after several minutes????

Hi there Rod,
I had the same issue with my 2004 Disco 2. I followed the excellent directions on this thread https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...tch-fix-46886/ and now my wiper switch is back to operating as good as new.

To summarize the thread, the original lubricant used on the switch internals hardens over time and "gunks" up the switch operation. When the switch warms up, it will operate a little better. The fix is to take the switch apart and clean the contacts, apply new grease and reassemble.
