Default Stuck in park, other maybe related issues...

Hello,

Since last week the truck is stuck in park, however, I can lift up the shifter housing and push the button to manually release the shifter. I have no codes or lights and the dash and housing shift position indicators are working fine. When I depress the brake pedal I don't get the normal tick that releases the shifter.

Wondering what to test first?

As an aside, I've been reading other posts related to this - I have a couple other items that seem like they could be related, but might not be at all.

1. For several years, once in a while, say a few times a month to several times a week, when I press the brake pedal while driving I get three dings and three lights (TC, ABS, and another). The lights are gone almost every time if I simply restart. No codes when lights are on and no codes stored. I could go days without the lights.

2. A few weeks ago my cruise control stopped working. I get the red light on the main button, but pressing set just doesn't seem to engage the cruise.

From reading it seems the brake light switch is common to these, however, the timeline doesn't make sense to me, also I haven't been pulled over yet so I'm guessing my brake lights are fine, but I'll check tonight.

Only recent work on the truck was a belt idler and new belt, new Watt's linkage, power steering pump, and a little welding on the frame near the left cat. - not seeing how any of these might be related to current issues but thought I should mention cause you never know.

Thought?

Thanks!

TDC

Brake light switch under brake pedal. DIY for <$25.00

Other issues are probably unrelated to the brake light switch itself.

X2 on brake light switch. Mine died at a gas station as I'm fueling up to hit the road. Had no idea at first. Read the boards, limped it til I got the replacement.

Is this part that needs to be replaced? For future reference, if it happens to me.

Could also be something even simpler like your brake light fuse. Happened to me a few weeks after I got my truck. No idea why it blew the fuse but I replaced it and its been over a year with no issues. Just something else to look for.
