Stuck shifter

Stuck shifter
I have a 1998 LR Disco. I took it to get it washed at the car wash. After washing my LR it wouldn't go out of park. The shifter is stuck. Ever since I purchased it there has been a problem with the brake lights, they have constantly been as long as the car was rather the brakes were applied or not. I don't know if this might be part of the issue but they are completely out now. Any ideas???

RE: Stuck shifter
There is 2 switches on the brake pedal. One has a vac hose going to it. Is this the one you are talking about or is it the other one. If it is the other one any idea on what the other does and where I can find one. I was just going to replace both switches but I can't find the one with the vac line in it. This may be due to the fact that I don't know what it is or what it is called. Thank you

RE: Stuck shifter
I finally got my switch in the mail yesterday and put it in today. I forgot to check the fuses first but now it still isn't working even with the switch. I checked the fuses and the 15Amp fuse for the brake lights was blown. I replaced it and started the disco and tried to get it out of park...nothing. I checked all the fuses and the same 15 Amp fuse was blown again. Any ideas what could be overloading the system?
