Stuck in Sport Mode 2002 Disco II
The Sport Mode engaged without the Mode switch being pressed and now it seems to be stuck in that mode, causing increased fuel consumption. I tried pressing the Mode switch to turn it off and the "S" light will not turn off. I do not remember pressing the Mode switch prior to the light going on. If my dog stepped on the switch it could only have happened when the car was not running because she is forbidden from jumping into the front seat while I'm driving.
This appears to have happened after the battery went dead and had to be jumped. Is there some way of "resetting" the mode without depressing the switch since the switch does not appear to be functioning correctly? Is it difficult to replace the switch since it appears to be broken? The increased fuel consumption is very noticable.

lWhen your computer acts up, you reboot. Same thing with these vehicles. Pull the ground wire on the battery for 10 minutes.
Hard Reset Instructions
If your scanner does not erase the codes and or turn off the MIL light, you might try what is called a hard reset.
In brief, to start the hard reset process, open the hood but close all doors and let your 3 go to sleep - no radio display etc.
It is often a good idea to have a window rolled down and the key in your pocket whenever fooling about the vehicle.
Disconnect the ground battery terminal from the battery.
Disconnect the positive battery terminal from the battery.
Connect the negative cable to the positive cable. (NOT the battery.) You will need a short length, (a foot or so), of light gauge, (14 to 18 gauge, AWG, stranded copper), wire to do this as there is not enough slack in the positive and negative battery cables for them to touch each other.
Hold them together for about a minute or so, (some say 5 to 10 minutes); you are discharging memory modules within the engine computer and elsewhere.
Reattach positive terminal to the battery.
Reattach negative terminal to the battery.
Start engine and hopefully no warning lights.
Reset time on the radio - note that the station presets are still there as not everything is erased. Nothing much else needs resetting either.
