What models exist and what are their characteristics for Discovery II ?
I see mentioned HD; SD; SD-7; HSE; SE; LE...

Is there any meaning ? Where to figure out what you have ? Is it stamped anywhere or in the VIN number ?
Is there a chart explaining have and have-nots equipped for each ?

Some have two air conditioners, some the third seat row, some spring suspension, some ACE, some dual sun roofs, some have navigation/radio, some this and the other... And do these letter soups change meaning per manufacturing year ?

Shine some light please ?

 

I have an 02 SE7, dual sunroofs, rear jump seats, A/C for all rows and spring suspension, not sure if that helps.

How did you find out you have a SE7 ? Where does it say so ?

If it had air suspension instead; and no sun roofs; would it be called something else like AE-7 ?

 

I have a 2000 and it has ACE and spring suspension. I don't think the 2000 models were given trims though.

 

Its says SE7 on the fender, lol.

My unknown 2000 lettersoup seats 7, dual sun roof, air suspension, two air conditioners. No fender markings.
There is 3 unmarked pushbutton switches around the cluster, one delete something by the mirrors control.
Any way to find what submodel/trim/optioned is it ?

I have a '99 DII. As best I can tell there were no letter-designated models in '99 or 2000.

A few weeks ago I found a snazzy leather or leatherette pouch in the back of a DII at a local boneyard. In it were the owners manual, a VHS tape explaining operation and features (still in its plastic wrap) and a 2000 model year brochure. I've attached the two pages of specs from the brochure and there is no mention of letter-designated models.

I don't know for certain, but I doubt buyers could order differently equipped versions. I think it's more likely that versions with different packages and options were produced and buyers picked and chose from what was available.

Pay particular attention to the "Available Packages" section on the second specifications page. The Performance Package included 18" wheels and ACE. Cold Climate had heated windscreen and heated front seats. The Seven Seat package included rear air, SLS and the rear step.

I don't recall seeing any '99s that weren't pretty fully loaded. In later years other models were introduced to enable the DII to be more affordable to more "price conscious" buyers by downgrading the audio system, deleting sunroofs, deleting front fog lamps, etc.
