Hi,

I'm having issues with my FRONT sunroof, it won't open. It DID work a year ago before parked, but now I can't get it to do anything. When I push the button, I do hear it attempt to try and work but NOTHING at all. The rear seems to function with out any issues...any suggestions?

Other than the motor or tracks are now seized.

 

Just dealt with this same problem today on my '96.

First thing to do is check your fuses.

My front sunroof motor died recently. I would recommend just to save yourself the money, pulling your rear sunroof motor and plugging it in to your front sunroof. Cycle it and make sure it works. If it works, your motor is bad. If it doesn't there may be an issue with your sunroof ECU being cracked, which should be an easy fix.

Edit: If your sunroof hasn't moved in a while, the bearing in the motor may be seized slightly. If you pull the motor down and simply cycle it without load on it, it may free it up. I had two spare motors laying around today when i replaced my front motor. One of them hadn't been cycled in quite a long time and struggled the first couple of times that I tried it. If you do remove the motor, keep it plugged in and give it a little bit of help before you write it off as bad, it may just be slightly siezed due to lack of use.

 

so I pulled the motor out and opened it up and it was all rusty inside. I freed it up and have it working fine now.

Saw your guys post. I have a 02 and front sunroof won't open but rear will. Same fuse runs front and back right? Shouldn't be the fuse. Where are the motors at and how do I get to them? Sorry I have to ask I just don't know. Thanks for the help.
