Default Sunroof Shade Latches

Hi all,

Is there anywhere to purchase the latches for the sunroof shades on a 2003 DII? The plastic hook that holds the shade in place when you cover the sunroof.

Thanks!

It's all one piece. You're gonna have to pull the headliner to access it.

You're better off going to junk yard and cutting out the sunshade (cut at the mesh shade) then carefully pry off the tab (it will split in two pieces) and jB-Weld that sucker on to your existing shade. At least that's what I did. If you take your time and it's done properly no one will every know it didn't come off the showroom floor that way

I like the JB weld fix. Others have fashioned a new clip out of sheet metal, bent it, painted, voila!

I was able to pick up an entire sunshade assembly from a local salvage yard for $5. It's sitting on my shelf right now until I work on my headliner...knock out both projects at once.

I broke one of my sunroof sun shade pull handle/hooks right after I got my D2 5 years back. It was a clean break in the larger flat part of the plastic handle/hook part, and I had the broken piece. I took a little piece of plastic that came as the spreader from my granddaughters crackers that come with cheese to spread in the same pack. I cut the spreader in half and super glued the handle/hook together and super-glued the spreader piece on top as a permanent "splint" / reinforcement of the flat part of the hook section, and it has been good for 5 years now. I am the only one that knows there is a yellow plastic kid's cheese spreader piece glued up there as you cannot see it from the passenger compartment!
