Default Sunroof slider bushings

Anyone found something to replace these other than replacing the whole sunroof? I wouldn't think it would be that hard to make or print. If your sunroof rattles when open yours are shot BTW.

I could not find any being reproduced when I re-did mine recently. I ended up going to Ace hardware and getting some nylon nuts and washers(I brought one of my remaining good bushings to match size) and got the closest ones I could and modified from there.

The best option I found were white plastic/nylon nuts that were essentially the same width, so I only had to shave the top and bottom down, add a little notch to the left and right edges, open the interior hole a smidge and then I think I also took some of the thickness down a little as well. Photos kinda speak for themselves.

I can't stress how nice it is to not have them banging around over every goddamn bump in the road now.

Original

Assorted nuts and washers. the nuts were the best option for thickness as well as closeness in size

After rough cuts

Afterrough cuts, comparison

I think the measurements are all I would need. If enough people would like some I'm sure I could get them produced. Would love some made of delrin so they would never need replacing again.

How hard was it to get them in place. Did you remove the whole roof or just the glass?

Just the glass. Are you familiar with the sunroofs at all? It is definitely easier with headliner out, as you have access to a "through hole" in the sunroof frame to loosen the glass mounting screws, but you can do it with the glass in "Vent" position very easily with a small ratchet with torx bits.

Glass off, you will see the mechanism. There is a piece inboard that has a stub on it that the slide rests on. It rides in a grooved channel that effectively causes the "lift" of the glass. With the glass off, they seperate real easy and you can put new slides on the little stub. It makes a lot more sense in person.

One recommendation is to make the center hole of the replacement piece ever so slightly smaller so it almost press fits onto the stub. That way it cannot come off and wander away later on.

Like everyone 3lse I just took a sanding bar to some nylon nuts from home Depot. Took about 10 minutes to shape them.
