Default Supplier Labeled O2 Sensors

I just got a P1173 code on my '04 DII after I chnaged the oil and greased everything. I checked the hoses and didn't see any vacuum leaks. With 93k on the sensors, I figured they are due for replacement anyway so I will probably do them and see if the code goes away. I checked through the collection of spare parts the PO gave me when I purchased the vehicle and found 2 new front O2 sensors in sealed bags with a Rovers North label in them. I believe these are just Pro-Line sensors with a Rovers North label. Has anyone had any problems with these sensors? If I'm going through the effort I would rather not install junk.

I'll be surprised if the o2 sensors fix that code. please let us know if it works. I think you will be the first person to fix that code with an O2, but I could be wrong. Since you just changed the oil make sure that you got the big O-Ring/Gasket back on the oil fill cap correct. Also make sure that the fill neck is screwed in tight to the valve cover. Sometimes it can losen up when you unscrew the oil fill cap if it was put on really tight the last time you changed the oil.

Good luck with the O2 sensors. If that doesn't work you might want to do a smoke test to find your vacuum leak.

Most people just get the OEM bosch sensors off amazon for much cheaper.

Code is "downstream fuel trim malfunction (bank 2)" and/or "Front sensor aged - rear H)2S adaption too lean/too rich RH bank"

I'd use them. They're free.

I was thinking that it was likely a vacuum leak because of the timing of its appearance. Having that code pop up after an oil change seems a little to much of a coincidence, but I didn't see an issues with the hoses and fittings near where I was working. I also checked the gasket at the fill cap thinking that might be a problem but it looked fine. I will pull the PCV apart and make sure that is clean and try a smoke test before I replace the O2 sensors.

But I still don't know if the Pro-Line O2 sensors I have are junk or not. At $60 each, I would prefer to use them if they are any good. Maybe I'll just put them in and then I can post a review.

I've never used Pro-Line sensors either but a review of a new product is always good. If they are from Rovers North then they are probably good sensors. I'd try them out before buying another set.

Default Update

I repaired a leaking exhaust gasket at the manifold to y-pipe on the passenger side, cleared the code and haven't seen it since. I never installed the O2 sensors, so I'll see if that exhaust leak was it.

Proline IS Rovers North. It should probably say "Rovers North Proline". If it just says Rovers North it's usually a genuine part.

Nice work 04duxlr. Don't change those O2's till you get codes for them. I run the autozone variety. I keep the receipts because they have a 1 year warranty and back when my weeping head gasket was shorting my passenger side O2 out I had to change them regularly.

I seriously doubt Proline makes O2 sensors. I expect they just repackage NTK or some other major brand. Even Bosch sensors I've bought were actually NTK.
I'd use them. If you want to spend more money then you can't go wrong with either NTK or Bosch, whichever is cheapest, or more expensive, depending on what you want to spend.
