I've seen worse shade tree mechanic tomfoolery when I was in the military. but... make do with what you got and wear eye protection. lol

Not sure why you would be having so much difficulties? Just grab that shock tower and wiggle/pull it out of there and those springs should slide right in there, especially, if you have the hydraulic jack in place.

OEM springs will indeed fall out once the shocks are loose, towers will come out, just wiggle em out, then the coil should pull out. You normally need the jack between the axle/frame only to install new coil springs.

That shock tower doesn't want to come out without me bending either that lower AC line or the four brake lines coming out of ABS modulator. Neither of which seems like a good idea (I'll pick the AC of the two).
Perhaps someone replaced that AC line at some point and routed it wrong?
And I think with the spring its just that I'm doing it on the ground — when I look at the video he can get in there and wrestle it properly. I just can't get the leverage from the side.
I'll give it another shot later today and maybe post some shots if I can't figure it out.

I noticed in the pic the shock isn’t connected to the tower. You can leave the 18mm top bolt in place, (only loosen the two 13mm shock bolts on the bottom, 4 shock tower 13mm nuts, then you simply grab the tower & the shock, pull it, twist it if needed and remove. AC Lines in the pic look normal.
I’ve done a lot of lifts with just hand tools, 2 jack stands, a LR bottle jack, and no coil spring compression tools, swaybars still connected, but I do loosen the rear ABS connectors, bracket, to give it more drop.
