Default Swap Transfer Case...or not.

I have a low milage CDL transfer case ready to go into my 02 (no cdl) and just want your thoughts. I know I can just switch the selector housing over and leave the 02 TC, but my 02 TC has 125,000 miles and has the normal 70 MPH whine...so I thought maybe just put the whole new unit in the 02 car. That means pulling the TC and I have heard that's a real PITA. Any suggestions or short cuts that work. I have studied the RAV and does not look to bad but have heard it is a job for 4 people.

It's a bitch doing it on jacks stands, if you can get it up on a hoist your life will be easier.

That's what I'm asking for Christmas...a lift. We should all have one and be able to write it off on taxes. Home improvement. Any idea what an independent might charge to swap one out. I sure hate to let anyone do a job I'm capable of but this might be one.

No idea what they would charge, but I have a shop near me that charges about $15/hour to use their lift... makes easy work of anything under the truck. Check if you have something like that in your area.

Thanks..called around nothing so far. But did call the independent rover place here. Thousand bucks to do the swap. Time to fill the cooler and invite over friends.

What year is the CDL/case out of and how many miles? What are they asking for it and is you current t/case well serviced and quiet?
I tend to incourage people to just buy the Ashcroft CDL assembly and install it on the current case if it is still quiet.

Hey Mike..it's an 04 with 42,000. Mine has 125,000 and a whine at 68 to 70 which is a bad range with as much highway speed I travel. And no I didn't get the 04 shifter, already been snagged.
