Default t-case

I was having problem with my diff lock before until disco mike told me to power wash it underneath to clean it out a bit. It started working again. It goes low-to high no problem. The only problem that I'm having is that the diff lock light won't turn on when I shift it to the left side. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That was to correct the linkage so you could shift into a locked position, this solenoid is a different issue not allowing you to shift out of low.

I have a 2000 Disco II with 155k miles and it will not shift into Low Range at all, hot or cold. The vehicle works perfectly otherwise. Is this solenoid the prime suspect? Sounds like it. Can anyone on here point me to a reputable Rover guy in the Phoenix or Tucson area? I'm from NC, but working in the Casa Grande and Coolidge, AZ area till the end of July. Thanks in advance!

9 t0 1 odds it is the solenoid. Are you at least a little mechanical?? Save a lot of money if you pull the console and access the top of the t/case, remove the solenoid and be done with it or replace it.

This will only prevent shifting into low range correct? or could you end up on a trail without being able to shift out of neutral? or i guess just as bad, not back into High?

Damn i wish i pulled this thing when i had everything apart a month ago. DUH!

If that solenoid goes you're stuck in whatever you were in last. Wouldn't be fun to have it fail on you.

Thanks for the info. I am 2000 miles from home, but carry plenty of tools to do this job as described. Thanks for the info.

I'm new here and have recently purchased a 95 Disco. Replaced engine, transmission. I put everything bk together and the truck doesn't pull itself. The transfer case worked before I changed the engine and tranny.

I removed the solenoid at the top that DiscoMike suggested. I have the console out and the front prop shaft removed. I can see the front trying to turn but it will not move the truck. Any insight would be very greatful. It doesn't feel as though the transfer case is going into gear all the way.
