A/T Tire opinions for 18 Inch wheels
I wish the GenerL ATX was available in a workable size. Smallest size for an 18” is 265/70.
These are probably the leading contender right now. I measured the diameter of the 255/55 tires on the truck now. They’re right at 28” tall.
The 255/60 Hankook Dynapro AT2’s are 30” tall. Most of the 265/60 tires are 30.5 inches tall or so.
My father in law had the Hankooks on his F150 and loved them. Tempting.

I've had mixed results with 265/65r18s. Some discos they rub, some they don't.
265/60r18s don't seem to rub on any Disco I've seen. This is the biggest you can go and be pretty well guaranteed they won't rub.
As far as brands, I have sang the praises of Fallen AT3Ws for years. Great tire in every terrain I've thrown at them, great tread life, and pretty quiet on the road. Way quieter than BFG ATs I've seen. The price has increased on them in the last few years, but they're still within your price range and absolutely worth the money.
A new tire I've found and been running on my work truck is a Dick Cepek Trail Country EXP. It's kind of a hybrid AT/MT. Warranty tells me the tread life should be good. They're quieter than a mud tire, a bit noisier than the Falken. I've not had them in snow or deep mud yet, but everything else they have handled easily. These might be my new go to, I like them a lot. A bit cheaper than the Falken as well.

@Alex_M is your work truck a 2500 or 1500? That Dick Cepek Tire looks awesome and they make a 265/60 18 but it’s an LT Tire, E load rating so pretty heavy duty side wall. I wonder how the ride quality would be on the disco?
I also like the Sumitomo Encounter A/T 265/60/18. Affordable and extremely well rated!

I got Nitto Terra Grappler 265/60R18 a year ago. Ordered via tirebuyer and delivered to a local tire shop who did the installation. No vibration, no rubbing, very quiet on the road, very satisfied with performance offroad (did 3 tours since then). I can't compare to other A/T tires, since this is my first set. I considered Falken Wildpeak A/T too when I did my research, but they are heavier and I decided for the Nitto. The other best option is BFG, but they were way more expensive then. If you want to retain the performance of ABS and TC, don't increase the diameter more than 5%.
@Alex_M when you say 265/60 does rub, does that mean no rubbing ever, or more just no rubbing under normal driving conditions? Because my stock size Grabber AT2’s rub slightly at full lock. No steering stops though. Does anyone have pictures of a stock disco running 265/60/18’s?
