Default Tailgate brake

Not sure if this is a common thing, but is there forum fix for the brake popping off? I tried searching but nothing relevant came up while sifting through hundreds of posts about tailgate handles freezing up. Is this a drill and pin it situation?

You're supposed the have a C-Clip on that which keeps the Door Pivot arm from falling off. On the Westminster I'm messing with it was badly rusted and I couldn't install a C-Clip. I drilled dead center into the pin, then drilled it completely out and installed a bolt/locknut. I used a M10x1.50 threaded bolt by 70mm long.

I repair the check strap the same way BEST does by drilling and taping the pivot stud. It's very simple and permanent.

Or if you still have the groove that will accept the c-clip then you can find the parts here...

Interesting. There's a faint remnant of a groove but it doesn't look like a clip would stay in place. That's a good suggestion though, I've got enough meat left on it that I can cut a new groove with a dremel.

Thanks.

Check strap must be an English thing. Us Germans have always referred to them as door brakes.
