1650 miles completed problem free, heading back to NY in a day or 2, The weather in Texas is beautiful, a welcome break from the snow and freezing temps of NY.
Will update after my first 14 hrs of driving back

i actually did call a realtor about a house i saw there...way outta my price range though....i liked Dallas a lot...i'll be back.

did the first 900 miles of the journey back today so i've totaled about 2500 miles this week with 750 to go tomorrow.

Finally pulled into a motel at 11pm. The drive was fine and i only got pulled over by a cop once!...he said i didn't use a turn signal, i know for sure i did but decided not to argue the point...a losing battle for sure in TX with NY plates. So i played the dumb English tourist and apologized profusely, and he let me off with a warning, we chatted for a while and off i went.

When i pulled into the motel, the idle was a little rough, only slightly...but that is normal for this car 500 miles before it's due for new oil.

Update after the 750

Oh... so that was your Disco just north of Scranton with the big cloud of white smoke behind it?

I have been keeping up with your story and am very happy to here that you made it in one piece to Texas and back. I am in Texas myself and I have relatives in Virginia, I feel inspired to go visit them. I only hope I could have as uneventful a trip as you did...
