Default Tall door locking issues

I have a 1999 discovery 2 and the tall door locking actuator was being funky so I got one out of a 2003 Discovery 2 at the local Pick-n-Pull, the door is closing just fine now but the powered locking and unlocking feature does not work, everything is free and clear because I can move it manually. The wire plug on the old unit has eight pins but the new unit only has seven pins. The wireloom itself only five wires. Can someone guide me in the right direction?
thanks

What is the tall door? Do you mean the tail door?

Yes, the tail door, or trunk door

Did you check voltages at the plug using the wiring diagram?

Hmm. Maybe this helps.... "tail" door actuator is the same part for all D2's 99-04.

Look at the last pic in that web link above, you'll see it has 3 pins in the connector housing, here's the wiring diagram, same for all 99-04 D2's.

I'm not sure what you are looking at though, can you post up pics? Can't figure out what would have 7 or 8 pins in relation to the tail door lock actuator.

Well crap, I posted the wrong part of the wiring diagram -- sorry (that was an upstream connector... I was incorrect) -- here is the connector C0831 from the electrical library

I'd say you have to test the wiring to make sure it's getting voltage, the ground (more likely since it will neither lock or unlock), or have a bad actuator.

Any tail door actuator 99-04 will interchange.

Maybe not related but can't hurt, make sure the child lock is fully disengaged. I know it can partially engage causing issues with the door latch not opening. Might be confused with the door lock not releasing.
